Because wine is not just a product: it is the result of a natural balance between the land, the climate, and people. And preserving that balance is essential not only to guarantee the quality of our wines, but also the future of the environment that makes them possible.

World Environment Day 2026

World Environment Day has been celebrated every June 5th since 1974, following the historic Stockholm Conference of 1972, the first major international meeting on environmental issues. It is the most important date in the United Nations environmental calendar, bringing together governments, companies, experts, and citizens from over 150 countries to raise awareness and take action for the planet.

This year, the focus is on climate urgency, with the global campaign encouraging action under the message #ActNowForClimate, reminding us that change is not only necessary, but possible if we move forward together.

World Environment Day also reminds us that sustainability does not only depend on major decisions, but on small everyday actions. From how we consume to how we move or work, every choice has a direct impact on the planet.

Wine and Sustainability: An Inseparable Connection

Viticulture is, by nature, deeply connected to the environment. Every vineyard reflects the conditions of its surroundings, from the soil and climate to the biodiversity that surrounds it. That is why talking about wine is also talking about sustainability.

For us, this commitment begins at the source: in the way we cultivate our vineyards and in how we understand our role within the ecosystem. We are committed to responsible viticulture, one that protects natural resources and enhances grape quality, applying techniques that maintain the balance of the vineyard while reducing environmental impact.

This approach not only protects the environment, but also results in wines that better express their origin and character.

Our Model: Sustainability in Every Bottle

At Bodegas Vicente Gandía, sustainability is not a one-off action, but a strategy integrated into everything we do. Through our IMPULSE program, we follow a global vision built on three key pillars: people, planet, and product.

This translates into a real commitment to our team, the environment, and the quality of our wines. From responsible resource management to the development of new products, every decision aims to generate a positive impact and contribute to a more sustainable model of growth.

You can learn more about our strategy in our Sustainability section.

Certifications That Support Our Commitment

Our journey towards sustainability is backed by certifications that recognise our efforts and ensure we meet demanding standards.

These include Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection (SWfCP) certification, ISO 14001 environmental management, and the SIR (Socially Responsible Valencian Entities Registry) recognition. These seals not only validate our work but also reinforce our responsibility to continue improving.

Additionally, our strategy is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), integrating sustainability into our long-term vision.

Commitment to the Environment: Beyond the Winery

Our responsibility goes beyond wine production. We also believe in protecting and highlighting the value of the environment around us.

Initiatives such as “Som Albufera” reflect this commitment, connecting wine, territory, and culture, while contributing to the conservation of one of the most emblematic ecosystems in the Valencian Community.

These kinds of projects reinforce our belief that wine is part of something bigger: an identity, a community, and a landscape that we must preserve.

Innovation, Sustainability, and the Global Wine Challenge

In a context shaped by climate change and the transformation of the wine sector, innovation is no longer an option, but a necessity. At Bodegas Vicente Gandía, we understand that moving towards a more sustainable model means constantly evolving, adopting new ways of working that make us more efficient and environmentally responsible without compromising quality.

That is why we focus on improving our production processes, optimising energy use, and reducing the environmental impact of our packaging, while also developing wines that meet changing consumer demands.

This evolution is closely linked to a shift in consumption habits. Today, more and more people value the environmental impact of what they buy, and wine is no exception. Choosing responsibly produced wines not only helps reduce pressure on natural resources, but also promotes sustainable agricultural practices and supports companies committed to the environment.

All of this becomes even more relevant in a global scenario where factors such as rising temperatures and water scarcity are reshaping viticulture. World Environment Day reminds us that the future of the planet depends on the decisions we make today, and in the world of wine, this responsibility is especially clear.

Our Commitment Continues

More than 140 years of history position us as one of the leading wineries in the Spanish wine sector. We look to the future with a clear idea: only through sustainability can we continue to grow.

Because every glass of wine tells a story. And we want that story to remain one of a living land, a protected environment, and a genuine commitment to the planet.

Will you join us in raising a glass to a more sustainable future?

Every June 5th, we celebrate World Environment Day, a date that invites us to reflect on the impact of our actions on the planet and how we can contribute, from our own field, to its protection.
