Equipo Terroir a Ciegas by Vicente Gandía

“Terroir a Ciegas by Vicente Gandía” will represent Spain at the world wine tasting competition.

Bodegas Vicente Gandía will accompany the Valencian team Terroir a Ciegas in its participation in the world wine tasting competition that will be held in Bordeaux next October. Josep Gallego, David Carril, Juan Luis Vanrell and Felipe Pardo are the members of the team ‘Terroir a Ciegas by Vicente Gandía’, trained by Daniel Monsonís.

This group is made up of four wine enthusiasts who have specialised in blind tastings. Last May, the team was proclaimed Spanish champion for the second time in this complex modality, which gives them the right to participate directly in the world wine tasting championship that this year is being held in Bordeaux, the world capital of wine, next October. The merit of this type of competition is the great rapport that the team must have in order to reach a consensus on the evaluations and opinions on each wine they taste. Here, the cooperative knowledge of the four components is valued in order to make the correct decisions in each test.

Bodegas Vicente Gandía, with its almost 140 years of history, has always been on the side of this type of initiative related to Valencian wine. On this occasion, a collaboration agreement has been reached between both entities in which the winery will provide financial support to the “Terroir a Ciegas” team in its Bordeaux adventure. In this way, the winery continues with its mission to position everything related to Valencian wines at the top.

The agreement was made official on Friday, September 20 at the headquarters of the Valencia Designation of Origin and after the formal presentation ceremony, a blind tasting workshop was held led by the “Terroir a Ciegas by Vicente Gandía” team in which the mechanics of this type of competition were explained. Attendees were able to participate and see first-hand the complexity of blind tastings.
