Recognition of Our Emissions Reduction Efforts
At Vicente Gandia, we believe that crafting great wines also means embracing a strong commitment to the environment around us. That is why we are proud to announce that the Spanish Office for Climate Change, under the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico (MITECO), has officially registered our 2024 carbon footprint and awarded us the “Calculate and Reduce” seal.
This recognition certifies not only that we measure and report our greenhouse gas emissions, but also that we have successfully reduced them. Specifically, we achieved a 2.06% reduction in the emissions intensity of Scopes 1 and 2, a result that reflects the continuous efforts of our entire organization to move towards a more sustainable production model.
What Does the “Calculate and Reduce” Seal Mean?
The “Calculate and Reduce” seal is part of the Carbon Footprint, Compensation and CO₂ Absorption Projects Registry promoted by MITECO. It is a voluntary initiative that enables organizations to demonstrate their commitment to the fight against climate change through the measurement, monitoring and reduction of their emissions.
To obtain this distinction, companies must:
- Calculate their carbon footprint.
- Register it in the official registry.
- Demonstrate an effective reduction in emissions compared to a baseline year.
- Submit a reduction plan with specific actions.

A Commitment That Began in 2021
Our journey towards more efficient climate management did not begin overnight. At Vicente Gandia, we have been registering our carbon footprint since 2021, an ongoing effort that has allowed us to obtain reliable data, identify opportunities for improvement and implement measures aimed at progressively reducing our emissions.
Thanks to this long-term commitment and the results achieved over recent years, 2024 marks a new milestone with the achievement of the “Calculate and Reduce” seal, which officially certifies the reduction achieved compared to our baseline year. This recognition is particularly significant because it confirms that the actions we have implemented are delivering measurable and verifiable results.
The certification awarded by MITECO covers our facilities in: Chiva, home to the headquarters of Vicente Gandia and Hoya de Cadenas, located in Las Cuevas de Utiel, one of the winery’s most emblematic wine estates and a key destination for wine tourism activities.
Both sites have been included in the calculation and monitoring process, allowing us to rigorously assess the environmental impact associated with our operations. The reduction achieved reflects the collective efforts made across different operational areas, optimizing resources and improving the energy efficiency of our processes.
