At Bodegas Vicente Gandía, our iconic wine project has received a new international recognition of enormous importance following the excellent scores awarded by the prestigious specialized magazine Wine Enthusiast to two of our most emblematic wines.
Clos de Gallur Black as been awarded 96 points, placing it among the highest-rated Spanish wines in the world, while Clos de Gallur has achieved an outstanding score of 93 points. Both represent the pinnacle of our winemaking project, crafting exclusive wines.
Clos de Gallur Black (96 points): our ultimate expression of exclusivity
Clos de Gallur Black (96 points Wine Enthusiast) is the most exclusive wine of our project, a limited edition born from the most select plots of the Clos de Gallur estate, in the heart of les “Terres dels Alforins”.
This is an ultra-premium segment wine that we produce only in exceptional vintages and with a very limited production of only 800 bottles.
Clos de Gallur Black boasts a very high aromatic intensity with notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, and freshly roasted coffee. The fruit is fresh, at its peak ripeness, retaining the lingering scent of lavender blossoms still attached to the stem, along with hints of lollipop and cherry pit, as well as a subtle touch of cassis. Balsamic, menthol, and resinous sensations also emerge, alongside nuances of red fruit yogurt and melted caramel.
The wine evolves, grows, and expresses itself with increasing complexity with each swirl, revealing a noble, distinctly Bordeaux character. The palate is broad and structured, with a prominent sandy texture of polished, elegant tannins. Acidity and warmth intertwine and complement each other. Broadly Mediterranean, it is flavorful and powerful without being overwhelming or strident. It hints at great potential for aging in the bottle. Serious, elegant, intense, and intriguing. Its memory on the palate is almost lingering.
Clos de Gallur (93 points): elegance, freshness and balance
Clos de Gallur (93 points Wine Enthusiast) stands out for its elegance, freshness, and varietal expression. A refined and contemporary wine in which we have successfully combined intensity and harmony, showcasing the full Mediterranean character of the grape, along with the meticulous work carried out both in the vineyard and in the winery.
This wine boasts an attractive ruby red color with matching highlights. On the nose, it offers intense aromas of ripe red fruit, with excellent complexity and a delicate hint of new oak.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, with very polished tannins, round, elegant, and with a very long finish.
The origin: Finca Casa Gallur and the Terres dels Alforins
Both wines originate from our Casa Gallur Estate, a 61-hectare property of unique viticulture located in Caudete, in an area bordering the Valencian Community and Castilla-La Mancha.
Although it belongs to the province of Albacete, Caudete has historically been linked to the Valencian wine region and is part of the production area recognized by the Valencia Designation of Origin.
Specifically, it belongs to the Clariano subzone and is part of the “Terres dels Alforins”, one of the most prestigious areas within the designation.
This unique location, between Mediterranean and continental influences, provides exceptional conditions for the production of complex, fresh wines with a distinctive personality.
