Bodegas Vicente Gandia Pla, has obtained the Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection (SWfCP) certificate this December.
Developed by the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV)
with the technical support of AENOR, SWfCP is the first certification created by wineries and for wineries that is specific to the wine sector. This seal allows Vicente Gandia to demonstrate the sustainability of an organization in a solid way, understanding sustainability in its global sense, acting on four fundamental pillars: Environmental, Social, Economic and Governance.
The SWfCP certification scheme is aimed at continuous improvement where wineries must have a specific plan for each area, which development is verified every two years through an external audit.
Bodegas Vicente Gandia has deployed this plan within the framework of its IMPULSE sustainability program, which integrates the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Among the measures developed are those related to the reduction of the carbon footprint, energy efficiency, responsible water consumption, waste recovery as well as the promotion of measures with social and economic impact both with the organization’s own personnel (equality and non-discrimination plan, conciliation measures, prevention of corruption, etc.) as well as in the community, among which we highlight the quality and food safety assurance certified by IFS and BRCGS standards and the “Som Albufera” project presented at the last Inspiration Day of the Mediterranean Marketing Club.
SWfCP certificate represents recognition of the winery’s sustainability track record, which is reinforced with the recent renewal of the ISO 14001 environmental management certificate and the S-tourism sustainability seal for the wine tourism project at the Hoya de Cadenas Estate. Likewise, it highlights the winery’s commitment and progress in terms of sustainability.
