Bobal Dulce, the new jewel of Bodegas Vicente Gandía

The Valencian winery expands its “Bobal” range by launching a highly expressive wine on the market and continues to focus on the most identifying variety of the Valencian interior

Bodegas Vicente Gandía expands its Vicente Gandia Bobal range by creating Bobal Dulce. A wine from the Utiel Requena denomination of origin, pale pink in color with slightly salmon tones, clean and bright. In the olfactory phase, notes of ripe and concentrated strawberry emerge towards our nose that are intertwined between memories of apple, citrus and a slightly floral finish, all with immense intensity. As it passes through the mouth, it fills it completely, marking a great balance between the concentration of its natural sugar and the freshness of a perfectly marked acidity that makes it sweet, eternal and very elegant.

What is your production process like?

In some places in the world such as Austria, Germany, Tokay in Hungary or Canada the harvest does not end until well into winter, as these are classic regions for the production of ice wines, made from naturally frozen grapes, the famous ICEWINE.

Bobal Dulce is a tribute to this type of wines. It comes from grapes selected in the exclusive vineyards of Vicente Gandía and collected manually in small boxes of 10 kilos (baskets), these are deposited in cold rooms specially designed for this complex production process. After remaining for the appropriate time and verifying that the entire batch of clusters has a homogeneous temperature, they are transferred directly to the press in order to give them a very gentle pressing and thereby obtain a super concentrated and impressive flower must, which is why the yield of these grapes does not exceed 30%, making this must a diamond in the rough.

Once that coveted flower must be extracted, it is transferred to stainless steel tanks, controlling its temperature to ferment very slowly and thus be able to preserve all the natural/primary aromas (of the grape itself).

Fermentation control takes place daily, at the end it is cooled and racked with its fine lees, stabilized, filtered, bottled and labelled by hand in an artisanal way.

What is Vicente Gandia’s Bobal range like?

Vicente Gandía Bobal” is a range of premium wines that was launched on the market at the beginning of 2020 with two references, Bobal Blanco (Blanc de Noirs) and Bobal Negro. After two years garnering great reviews and excellent scores, Bobal Rosa was launched on the market, completing the Bobal trilogy by Vicente Gandía. The high quality of the wines, the careful design of their presentation and the bottle with such a peculiar shape, reminiscent of the clusters of the Bobal grape, have consolidated this range that celebrates its fourth harvest this year and has become everything a reference within Valencian wines.
