Ceramic the evolution of an iconic wine

Bodegas Vicente Gandía launches the new 2020 vintage of Ceramic Monastrell aged in Ceramic vats and carries out the first bottling of Ceramic Sauvignon Blanc in Bodegas Urbanas

Bodegas Vicente Gandía consolidates its iconic wine project with the launch of the new references of the Ceramic brand, which has already become one of the house’s reference brands by its own right. Ceramic Monastrell Criado en Tinaja presented its first 2019 vintage a year and a half ago in a gastronomic setting with Michelin stars, the Ricard Camarena restaurant in Valencia.

The 2019 vintage of Ceramic Monastrell aged in ceramic vats has enjoyed great recognition from critics in its first months of existence, obtaining high scores and awards in various guides and competitions worldwide. Among them we can highlight the following:

Gold Medal – Mundus Vini (Germany)
Gold Medal – Berliner Wein Trophy (Germany)
96 Points – Guía La Semana Vitivinícola (Spain)
95 Points – Guía ADN Verema (Spain)
93 Points – Wine Enthusiast (USA)
92 Points – Guía Peñín (Spain)
90 Points – IWSC (UK)

The secret for the success of this iconic wine is its aging in four phases, first it is aged on the lees. Next, it matures in French Allier oak, is later refined in ceramic vats and ends up resting in the last phase of aging inside the bottle itself for a few months before going on the market.

After running out of the first 2019 vintage, the new 2020 vintage is launched, which promises great expectations to all great wine lovers. Pepe Hidalgo, technical director of Bodegas Vicente Gandía: “Taking advantage of the experience gained after the first vintage, we have managed to produce a wine that is fresher and even finer and more elegant than the previous vintage.”

To complement the range, the first bottling of Ceramic Sauvignon Blanc has been carried out. This is the first reference bottled by Vicente Gandía at Bodegas Urbanas and it is the first wine to be released within the Valencia Wine Community project. The careful elaboration carried out by Pepe Hidalgo also applies an aging process in different phases, with the particularity that toasted barrels with volcanic stone from Iceland have been used, which give the wine nuances that make it unique. This Ceramic Sauvignon Blanc, of which just over 2,000 1.5-litre magnum bottles have been bottled, is an oenological jewel. Its market release is scheduled for a few months in the spring of 2023.

Bodegas Vicente Gandía continues to bet on high expression wines, consolidating its ambitious project of positioning itself among the best wineries in the world.
