Guía Peñín 2025

Peñín Guide gives high scores to the high-end wines of Vicente Gandía

The new oenological style of the Valencian winery strengthens its position with these high scores obtained for its ultra-premium wines

Bodegas Vicente Gandía has received more than 90 points in 5 of its most iconic wines: Clos de Gallur, Ceramic Monastrell, Ceramic Sauvignon Blanc, Bobal Rosa and Bobal Negro. The Peñín Guide is the most complete and updated manual on Spanish wine, with 9,800 rated wines. This year’s edition has been a spectacular one because never in history have such high levels of quality been achieved.

With 92 points, Ceramic Monastrell repeats the same score as in the previous edition. Aged in French oak barrels and refined in vats, Ceramic Monastrell is an intense, dark red wine with bright edges. On the nose, aromas of ripe plum, licorice and notes of coconut and vanilla stand out. In the mouth it is broad, robust, with sweet tannin and elegant acidity. Leaving the memory of these very ripe red fruits in the mouth.

With 91 points Clos de Gallur continues to be the jewel in the crown of Vicente Gandía wineries. Made with grapes from the Casa Gallur Estate located in Caudete, within the “Vall dels Alforins” area, it stands out for its ruby red with reflections of the same color. High intensity of ripe red fruit with excellent complexity and delicate memory of new oak wood. Fleshy, with very polished tannin. Round, elegant and with a very long finish.

With 90 Ceramic Sauvignon Blanc points, it consolidates its status with this high score, after the great success of the first vintage. Fermented in barrels and aged in vats, it is an elegant white wine, with aromas of ripe tropical and citrus fruits such as mango and pineapple, herbaceous aromas such as fresh hay and spices such as pepper and elderberry. Very good unctuous depth and a sweet, floral-oriented side. In the mouth it is lively with good citric acidity and fine exotic smokiness, also an aging process in different phases. As a distinctive element, toasted barrels with Icelandic volcanic stone have been used, which give the wine nuances that make it unique. This Ceramic Sauvignon Blanc is an oenological gem.

With 90 points Vicente Gandía Bobal Rosa and Vicente Gandía Bobal Negro. In its fifth year of operation, the Vicente Gandía Bobal range has not stopped bringing joy to the winery that opted for the most representative variety of the D.O Utiel Requena to produce premium wines. With this line of wines Vicente Gandía pays tribute to the Bobal variety, creating modern and innovative wines, achieving great positioning with wines made 100% with this variety.

Bobal Rosa has a very pale pink color with copper reflections. On the nose it expresses delicate aromas of rose, red fruits and grapefruit. In the mouth it is agile, fresh and very pleasant and unctuous to drink.

Bobal Negro is an intense red wine, with a violet rim and dense tears. Aroma of broom, red fruit and English caramel with light smoky nuances. In the mouth it is resounding, filling the mouth, leaving oaky sensations.

These high scores strengthen the winemaking project of Bodegas Vicente Gandía, currently directed by winemaker Diego Morcillo. With the launch of premium wines, this project is helping a lot to position the winery at a very high level and contributes to Valencian wine becoming increasingly recognized and obtaining a better reputation.
